March 28, 2020The Pope's Urbi et Orbi blessing, in a desolately empty and flooded Piazza San Pietro, broadcast yesterday at 6 pm on Rai1, was seen by 8 million 625 thousand spectators with a 32.69% share. Millions, therefore, the spectators who followed this event of great visual impact and extraordinary symbolic strength.

The Holy Father - through the media - has given voice to a common invocation in this time of global health emergency. A non-ordinary hour of prayer, with listening to the Gospel, the supplication before the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar in the atrium of the Basilica and finally, with the possibility of receiving the plenary indulgence, also the rite of the Eucharistic blessing " Urbi et Orbi ", as at Christmas and Easter, so that the merciless Covid-19 pandemic taking place in the world can shed its scythe.

From this colonnade that embraces Rome and the world, God's blessing descends on you like a consoling embrace.
