UK: Boris Johnson tested positive for new coronavirus

Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for the new coronavirus after showing "mild symptoms," Downing Street said on Friday. "After seeing slight symptoms on Thursday, the Prime Minister was tested for coronavirus" and "the result is positive," a spokesperson said in a statement.

In a video posted on Twitter, Boris Johnson explained that he had " placed in isolation " while specifying that he continued to " direct the government's response via videoconference at a time when we are fighting against this virus ".

Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government response via video-conference as we fight this virus.
