The Federal Security Service of Russia announced the prevention of the terrorist attack in Krasnodar. During a special operation, security forces detained a man born in 1993, in whose car an explosive device was discovered.

“A improvised explosive device was found in the detainee’s car, and correspondence with members of the Islamic State, an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation *, exposing his criminal intentions was found in the vehicles used,” the FSB communications center said.

According to the results of the examinations, a procedural decision will be made, the department added.

The video taken by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, taken during the detention, shows how special forces fighters throw a stun grenade into the suspect’s apartment and then burst in.

The record also shows a homemade explosive device made from improvised materials. The bomb is stuffed with metal bolts and screws to enhance the damaging effect.

According to preliminary data, the Russian was detained in a rented apartment in one of the city's high-rise buildings. Where exactly he intended to detonate a bomb, security officials do not report.

A member of the Association of Veterans of the anti-terror group "Alpha", lieutenant colonel of the reserve Andrei Popov noted that law enforcement agencies were able to prevent such crimes at earlier stages of their preparation.

“Based on this and other detentions, we can conclude that by now the undercover positions, as well as the technical means of our law enforcement agencies in this area continue to progress. For example, if you recall, two years ago, many detentions took place, probably at the stage of preparation for the attacks, in the safe houses of the terrorists, where they prepared their criminal plans. Now the detentions are, as far as one can judge, at the earlier stages of preparation - at the stage of delivery of explosives, other materials and means for carrying out the terrorist attack, that is, couriers are being delayed, ”Radio Sputnik quoted him as saying.

Recall that on March 23 in Kabardino-Balkaria, three militants who intended to carry out a terrorist attack were liquidated.

According to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, law enforcement agencies received information about the preparation of the crime. During the verification of the information received, the security forces found two homemade bombs ready for use, as well as components for other explosive devices.

The day before, in Bashkortostan, law enforcement officers neutralized a man who was also preparing a terrorist attack. When his car was stopped for inspection, the offender opened fire and was eliminated during the ensuing shootout.

In addition, on March 20, FSB officers announced the suppression of the activities of the Islamic State cell, which operated in the Crimea, Rostov Region and the Komi Republic. As it became known, the participants in the cell created an interregional network to raise funds for the IG. As a result, under the guise of charity, about 2 million rubles were transferred to the accounts of terrorists.

In February, President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that in 2019 the number of extremist crimes had more than halved. However, the head of state said that this was “not a reason for complacency,” and recalled that the Ministry of Internal Affairs was responsible for maintaining stability in society. In addition, Putin mentioned that large-scale events dedicated to the Victory Day, which require special attention, are being prepared in Russia.

“And, of course, the most serious attention is required to ensure security in places of mass stay of citizens, especially during large-scale events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. I spoke about this at a recent FSB board and I repeat - this is a task for all our special services and law enforcement agencies, ”the Russian leader added.

Also, the NAC said that in 2019, security officials detained 41 terrorist leaders, 241 ordinary militants and more than 600 of their accomplices. The first deputy chief of staff of the committee Igor Kulyagin said that in the period from 2015 to 2019, the number of crimes decreased by nine times. The deputy head of the NAC noted that the media played an important role in the fight against terrorism.
