International Athletics Federation President Sebastian Coe doubts that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) can find a new date for the Tokyo Games in 2021 "that can satisfy every sport," he said on Friday.

"The different sports have clearly explained their calendar problems at particular times of the year. We are probably not going to find a solution that can satisfy each sport, explained Sebastian Coe during a press briefing. flexibility for the next two years. "

Since the announcement Tuesday of the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, world sport has been unclear as to its calendar for next season, dependent on the Games for many disciplines.

World athletics (ex-IAAF) has for example declared itself ready to postpone in 2022 its World Championships planned in Eugene (United States) in August next summer.

"There is clearly a request, heard, for this decision to be taken as quickly as possible, the athletes and the federations need clarity", added the president of the body, while the IOC and the 32 international federations were on teleconference on Thursday.

"Once the decision is made, we can build (the calendars) around it."

The IOC and the Japanese government agreed Tuesday to postpone the Games in 2021 at the latest in the summer, leaving open the possibility of organizing the Olympic Games in the spring.
