Paris men's ready-to-wear week scheduled for June 23-28 and haute couture week from July 5 to 9 have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the French Federation of Haute Couture and the fashion.

The Federation believes that "the conditions are not met to allow the unfolding" of the two events in the face of "the progression of the epidemic of Covid-19 which is now spreading throughout the world," she said. in a press release.

This decision is taken in order to "protect our homes, their collaborators and all those who work in our industry", underlines the Federation while adding to work "on the possibility of alternative projects".

The hour is no longer in fashion, the luxury giants LVMH and Kering have announced in recent days that they will produce masks, blouses and hydroalcoholic gel to fill the glaring shortages of protective materials.

The French workshops of the Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent houses, part of Kering, have started to manufacture masks to fill the shortage in the face of the spread of the pandemic in Europe.

Gucci, the Italian flagship of Kering, has committed to manufacturing 1.1 million surgical masks and 55,000 gowns for healthcare workers in Italy, the country hardest hit by the pandemic.

A competitor of Kering, LVMH has for its part started in the "large quantity" manufacture of hydroalcoholic gel for hospitals on three of its French production sites usually dedicated to its perfumes and cosmetics (Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy) .
