"The situation continues to worsen": day after day, the prefecture of Grand-Est and the Regional Health Agency repeat their warning. With 3,068 people hospitalized on Wednesday at 2 p.m., the pressure continues to increase on health facilities in the region.

Among these patients, 651 were placed in intensive care, 56 more than the previous day. Since the start of the epidemic, the death toll shows 506 deaths in the region.

Forty beds abroad

In the Bas-Rhin, 737 people are hospitalized because of the coronavirus, including 237 in intensive care. The provisional balance sheet shows 81 deaths, to which should be added 47 deaths occurring in nursing homes in the department.

To relieve the Great East, a transfer of 20 patients by medical TGV is underway this Thursday. In addition, "around forty beds in intensive care have been made available by our neighboring countries (Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg)", report the authorities. On Tuesday, five patients were transferred to Germany and two to Luxembourg.
