According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the department began monitoring the situation with media reports about rising gas and diesel prices.

The FAS Russia was instructed to "give a legal assessment of the validity of the increase in prices for gasoline and diesel fuel."

“At the same time, if there are grounds, prosecutorial checks will be implemented aimed at identifying violations of antitrust laws and facts of price conspiracy,” the report said.

Earlier, the FAS said that there are currently no prerequisites for rising gas prices in Russia.

They noted that this applies to both the wholesale segment and the retail.

On March 23, the Independent Fuel Union, which represents the interests of a number, appealed to the government with a request to provide market participants with a number of concessions, including tax ones.
