During Wednesday, SKF signed an agreement with the unions on short-term leave for all employees in Gothenburg, which is announced during Wednesday. Collective employees in the factory and logistics service in Gothenburg, however, are not included, according to management.

The agreement means that all staff within staff, sales and other support functions at SKF will work at 40 percent as of Monday, and for eight weeks ahead. Officials at the Gothenburg factory will work 80 percent.

Through the government's support package, the laid-off employees receive 92.5 percent and 96 percent of their salary, respectively.

- This decision is as difficult as it is necessary to make. Like many other industries, we see an impact on the current situation in the world economy and therefore we must work to adjust our operations and reduce costs, locally and globally, says Alrik Danielson, President and CEO, in an email to SVT News West .

- We are extremely grateful that through dialogue with the trade union and with the support that is in place in Sweden, we can help minimize the impact on our employees during this difficult time.
