During the year, a new coalition emerged between the opposition parties Moderates, Christian Democrats and the Left Party in Karlskrona.

"Finding consensus on several issues"

M and KD have cooperated throughout this mandate period, but in connection with the three parties settling at parliamentary level, new opportunities opened up, according to the opposition council Camilla Brunsberg (M).

- Then Emma Hilborn (group leader for the Left Party ed. Note) and I booked a meeting to know each other on the pulse. We were able to find consensus on several issues, especially regarding more money for welfare, ”she says.

The first official collaboration came when the parties agreed that they wanted to stop the board's fee increases in elderly care. Since then, the parties have demanded measures for increased security in the municipality, and presented a budget proposal for how the welfare money of the Riksdag should be distributed.

"The board has shown no interest"

A collaboration with parties that are closer to politics would have been more natural for V, but that door is closed, says party leader Emma Hillborn.

Is this a way to give back to S so you can't join and control?

- No, this is a way to get through the politics that we think makes Karlskrona better and right now we get it with M and KD. The board has shown no interest in cooperating with us, says Emma Hilborn (V).

Bengt Jönsson, chairman of KD in Karlskrona, is positive that the parties will be able to continue their cooperation.

"As long as we are confident in our own ideology, we can work together on issues where we have common points of emphasis," he says.

"Very unexpected by V"

The municipal council's chair Sandra Bizzozero (S) believes that the board has been prepared for other political constellations to be formed.

"On the other hand, it was very unexpected that V would join forces with M and KD, as it means that the Swedish Democrats will become the champion," she says.

How should you ensure that the opposition does not vote down your policy?

- We are working to find broad solutions and, among other things, we have started to invite all group leaders to participate when we prepare matters for the local council. But it takes a will from all parties to come forward, she says.
