It was in October 2015 that the woman was killed after being trapped in a machine at the Pastejköket factory in Tranås. After the accident, the factory's location manager was charged with work environment crimes and causing death to someone else. In Eksjö District Court, the chief was freed from suspicions of crime.

The company was sentenced in the district court

However, the company, Atria Sverige AB, was convicted of work environment violations and fined SEK 1 million to the state. The company was also sentenced to pay damages to two of the woman's relatives of SEK 75,000 each.

The prosecutor believed that the chief should also have been convicted and appealed the judgment to the High Court. Göta Court of Appeal has now reached the same conclusion as the district court and therefore upholds the verdict. The High Court agreed.

The manager also receives compensation from the state for his legal costs of just over SEK 200,000.
