The new measures, which were presented during a press conference on Tuesday, mean that restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs are no longer allowed to serve food and drinks at the bar counter.

- It is obvious that when people are crowded at the bar counter, more and more people are standing side by side in an unregulated way, says Director General of the Public Health Authority Johan Carlson.

The ban is expected to enter into force as early as tomorrow, and infection control physicians, in consultation with the municipalities, can force those activities that do not follow the rules to close.

The ban also applies to outdoor dining, and pubs and cafe owners are also encouraged to slip out between the tables.

- Download food will be allowed, says Johan Carlson.

Restaurants will also continue to be able to serve buffets.
