On Monday, the municipality of Växjö announced that people with financial assistance should start manufacturing protective equipment for the care, already at the end of this week. In several regions, the staff themselves have started to manufacture protective visors of overhead paper, something SVT Sörmland has previously told us about.

But at noon on Tuesday, no formal request had been received from the municipality of Växjö and there was no established contact about the production of protective equipment, says regional director Martin Myrskog.

- I was at a meeting with the municipality of Växjö yesterday and then that question came up. Right now we see no reason to close any doors. But we have not established forms for how this can go to, he says.

"No acute deficiency"

As far as protective equipment is concerned, Region Kronoberg has for several weeks worked to ensure access to a corona eruption in the county, including together with Region Blekinge with which they share storage.

- At present, there is no acute shortage. But it can be a lengthy process. We have probably not reached the peak in Kronoberg and see that the need can increase in a few weeks. This can be part of a larger puzzle.

Does manufacturing of own protection take resources from healthcare today?

- In Kronoberg Region, it is not the case that healthcare professionals work with this. There is nothing that burdens us in any way, says Martin Myrskog.

Is it safe to make, for example, visor made of transparency paper?

- Yes, those working with health care in the region have even tested this. It holds for this type of purpose.
