Two senior executives from Amazon in France resigned on Monday. "See no connection," says management, "with the very recent controversy over the alleged pressure exerted on the employees." The two executives who decided to leave are the boss of Amazon Europe, and the director of one of Amazon's most important platforms in France, the Sarran platform near Orleans. The information spread like wildfire yesterday within the group.

"Cracked" in the face of pressure or personal reasons?

For the unions, these two departures reflect the uneasiness that is gaining certain strata of business in France. The two executives would have "cracked", no longer supporting the pressure exerted on the teams by the management of the group, pressure which has increased, say the unions, with the crisis of the coronavirus which offers a boulevard to Amazon facing the traditional shops forced to lower their curtain.

The management of Amazon, joined late Monday evening, categorically refutes this presentation of things. "The two executives," she said, "left for personal reasons that have nothing to do with supposed pressure they could not have endured."

These are career choices, says the group, which considers that it is being sued: "There is no pressure at Amazon. The measures we have put in place to protect our French employees are even more as strict as those required by public authorities. "
