A skating rink in Madrid will be built to store the bodies of victims of coronavirus in the Spanish capital, which already has more than 1,200 dead. This improvised morgue was to start being used "within the next few hours". The region spoke of "an exceptional measure", aimed at "relieving the pain of relatives of the victims and the situation in Madrid hospitals". The Madrid City Council has indicated that the municipal funeral company cannot collect the remains due to the lack of protective equipment for its staff.

This skating rink is close to the Madrid fair, the pavilions of which are transformed into a 1,500-bed field hospital, and which could eventually accommodate up to 5,500. Spain, which recorded 462 deaths from Sunday to Monday, has a total of 2,182 deaths and more than 33,000 infections.
