On Monday, 17 patients were treated with covid-19 at the Academic Hospital, four of whom are so seriously ill that they receive intensive care.

- That we are in a so-called waiting position for a hard-hitting pandemic is true, but you should also remember that we have been working hard for several weeks now. We are now basically only working with covid-19. All our reception rooms are focused on receiving this, says Fredrik Sund, head of operations at the infection clinic, at a press conference.

- We have far-reaching plans to receive many more patients, both at the reception and to be able to place patients in the rest of the hospital.

Among other things, you are preparing to care for the patients with extra oxygen supply, so-called optiflow treatment.

- We checked how much oxygen we can manage at the hospital - and got a very happy message. There will be no shortage of oxygen, says Fredrik Sund.

During the press conference, Emilie Orring (M), chairman of the regional board, also told us that a new field hospital was requested for Uppsala. On Sunday, one was on its way to the airport base Erna, but the caravan was redirected to the Stockholm fair in Älvsjö.
