by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 23 March 2020 Another prisoner returning to the Milanese prison of San Vittore tested positive at Covid-19.

The man returned to prison after being hospitalized on 2 March in a city hospital.

As established by the health protocols of the Ministry of Health and the circulars of the Department of Prison Administration, upon entering the prison, he was immediately put into precautionary isolation. Two days ago, subjected to swab was positive.

This is the seventeenth case of Coronavirus positivity that has occurred among detainees throughout the country in the last month, since the DAP launched the first measures to curb the risk of contagion on 22 February last.

The Dap has specified that of these 17 infected prisoners, just under a third, are hospitalized while the remaining part, almost all asymptomatic, is in isolation inside special overnight rooms, single and equipped with independent bathroom , placed in separate sections from the rest of the population detained.

In some cases, such as the two who registered in San Vittore, these are prisoners who contracted the virus outside the penitentiary institutions while they were hospitalized, for other reasons, at health facilities.
