Shortly after the earthquake, unusual in this region, numerous citizens took to the streets of the city despite the restrictions imposed by the Croatian authorities against the expansion of the coronavirus.

The epicenter of the tremor was seven kilometers north of Zagreb, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Many citizens tell on social media that the earthquake was also felt in central Croatia , in neighboring Slovenia and in southern Austria .

According to Hina, there have been power and water cuts, as well as some fires in some neighborhoods of the capital. Around 07:00 in the morning a strong aftershock was felt, with a magnitude of 5.0 degrees.

Some citizens in the capital report damaged walls and falling objects, but no major material damage at the moment.

However, in videos posted on Twitter, numerous vehicles damaged by parts of buildings that have fallen into the streets are seen in the center of Zagreb.

Among the damaged buildings is the Zagreb cathedral, according to photos published by the local press on the internet.
