Telia can see that the traffic in the networks linked to various online meeting services has increased by 500 percent. But this type of traffic is not as demanding as the one that gets started on weekends and evenings, as Sweden's population starts streaming high-resolution video on the TV and plays online games.

“We have the most traffic on Sunday nights, what we see now is a behavior where weekdays can be equated with weekends. But that's still only a third of the traffic on Sunday nights, says Andreas Norman, Deputy CEO of Bahnhof.

And the broadband providers Stockholm's urban networks, Bahnhof and Telia are in agreement with regard to the Internet infrastructure in Sweden.

- There is no concern about a general capacity shortage, but we minimize any risks that can have an impact on the network. I feel completely safe, we have a world-class network both in terms of mobile networks and the fixed fiber network, ”says Staffan Åkesson, technical manager at Telia.

Many new users on services for online meetings

Microsoft, whose service "Teams" is the largest service for meetings and projects online in the world, has seen a significant increase in users.

“Globally, the service has increased by twelve million daily users over the past twelve days. The increase has occurred in video calls, document sharing and in the chat tool. Although we do not have figures yet, we are fairly certain that the percentage usage is the same in Sweden, says Henrik Byström, head of the Modern workplaces business area at Microsoft.

Zoom is another tool for online meetings that large parts of Sweden's universities and colleges use. Visualized, the company that manages the US service, has also noticed a change in the number of users. Viktor Gawor, technical manager, speaks of an increase of over 200 percent in the number of meeting minutes in Sweden, and in February a total of 16.5 billion meeting minutes were measured globally.

“The physical meeting place is still very important for the social, but we hope that people will notice that you can take a break with their colleagues online,” says Henrik Byström at Microsoft.
