Earlier, Russian special services officers repeatedly detained and thwarted the activities of accomplices of terrorists and people who raised money for the needs of the Islamic State terrorist organization.

So, in November 2019, during a joint operation of the Russian law enforcement agencies in Dagestan, the operation of a conspiratorial cell was stopped, which collected at least 10 million rubles for the IG. In addition, two women aged 24 and 33 were detained. They, "adhering to radical ideas," helped an internationally wanted action movie. In 2015, a terrorist left for Syria to participate in hostilities.

A month later, five militants were detained in Moscow - two citizens of the Russian Federation and three natives of Central Asian countries. They intended to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in Russia.

In February 2020, FSB officers detained a resident of the Moscow Region born in 1986, who "organized the collection of financial resources in support of the IG." He transferred more than 25 million rubles to the terrorists. In relation to him, a criminal case under part 1 of art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“assistance to terrorist activities”).

In the same month, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting of the FSB board, said that the number of terrorist crimes in the country continued to decline - in 2019 there were four, another 57 were prevented, including 34 terrorist attacks. Later, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee added that last year the activity of 78 cells of international terrorist organizations was revealed. In addition, 32 bandits, including nine leaders, were neutralized during counter-terrorist operations and combat operations. 41 ringleaders, 241 militants and 606 accomplices of terrorists were detained.

In addition, the head of state in an interview with TASS noted fruitful cooperation with the United States of America in the fight against terrorism, in particular in curbing the activities of those preparing the terrorist attacks in St. Petersburg.

“They worked for them for a long time. Then the FBI transferred this case to the FSB, this information ... In this situation, we did not get caught. Our catch a lot. With us, they warn dozens of terrorist acts, they catch and snatch it. The bill goes several tens a year. The Americans have tracked this situation. Thank you very much, they conveyed, ”Putin said.

Recall that the American intelligence services twice reported to their Russian colleagues about the terrorists who planned the terrorist attacks in St. Petersburg. The first episode is December 2017, the second is December 2019. The President of the Russian Federation both times thanked Donald Trump for "information that helped prevent the commission of terrorist acts in Russia."

Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin also noted that the low level of interstate relations and overall tension between Russia and the United States do not interfere with productive interaction between the special services.

“The foreign intelligence service as a whole maintains very good, fruitful partnerships with most special services, including the special services of the United States of America, primarily the Central Intelligence Agency,” the Japanese magazine Toyo Keizai quotes him.
