The region is preparing to receive more sick patients in the future.
- We believe that there will be more cases of corona, not only in Sörmland but in the whole of Sweden. We are looking at the resources we currently have to be able to receive severely ill patients. And here is a risk that we will get more patients than we can take care of. We are also discussing how we can solve an "Italy scenario", that is, a very rapid increase in seriously ill IVA patients, says Magnus Johansson, regional healthcare manager.
A total of 11 people are now dead due to the virus in Sweden, four of them in Sörmland.
- We don't really know why it looks like that and it's something we're investigating. There are more deaths than we expected.
