Pablo Iglesias has appeared this Thursday in La Moncloa , in a telematic press conference shared with the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa. It is the second time that the second vice president breaks the quarantine that he himself announced after the positive of his partner, the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero. Iglesias has already attended a Council of Ministers last Saturday. It is not the only case of a politician who has announced quarantine and breaks it.

Iglesias has appeared in Moncloa to vindicate the measures that had been exposing or demanding from United We Can or, at least, those that affect the plots of power of the purple ministers: the social and the labor, mainly. The second vice president wanted to take center stage by taking the word for the first time since the crisis erupted, in an intervention where he has listed all the measures in his field and where he has wanted to show that he will be the one who coordinates the management of social services with communities and town halls.

A staging that confirms the purposes of Unidas Podemos in the last days of monopolizing prominence and media focus in the management of a crisis that capitalizes PSOE and whose nucleus of command they were left out. At the moment, they show as an achievement the moratorium on the payment of mortgages and that Defense and Health have undertaken an action collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs piloted by Iglesias.

It happens that Iglesias announced last March 12 that he began a quarantine after Montero tested positive for coronavirus and that all the ministers submitted to the tests. "I do not have coronavirus. Ahead I have 14 days of quarantine taking care of my family and working by telematic means. Thanks to the professionals of public health; you are the heroes and heroines of our country." In just one week, he has broken it twice.

A situation similar to that starring Adriana Lastra. The PSOE parliamentary spokeswoman announced that she was voluntarily undergoing quarantine, after a collaborator with whom she had been in contact gave a positive result. "I do not present symptoms, but out of responsibility and following the recommendations made to all citizens, I go into quarantine. Courage, responsibility and unity. We are going to overcome it," he said last March 13. This week he went to the House of Congress in which Pedro Sánchez appeared to explain the state of alarm.

During this week, Lastra has been exposing the experience of quarantine on social networks. "I am quarantined in an interior apartment. You never hear anything. The applause from the people of my neighborhood to the health personnel is heard in any corner of the apartment!", He told March 14 on social networks.

A situation identical to that of Pablo Echenique, spokesperson for Unidas Podemos. He asked the deputies of his group to "self-quarantine and telework" to respond to the recommendations of the health authorities regarding the advance of the coronavirus, but they went to Congress. On the contrary, parties like Ciudadanos, JxCat, the CUP and EH Bildu decided not to send any representative.

The Vox deputies also decreed the self-quarantine after Javier Ortega Smith and Santiago Abascal tested positive. However, a small representation went to Congress, among them Iván Espinosa de los Monteros. He did so arguing, in his case, that it was a voluntary decision, that no one in his family was infected, and that in the course of the past week, the test was done with a negative result. They placed their attendance in the Lower House as a parenthesis.

A special case is that of Pedro Sánchez. As explained from Moncloa, except for Montero and the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function, Carolina Darias, no member of the Government tested positive for Covid-19. However, the tests were done on the people closest to the Prime Minister, being positive in the case of his wife, Begoña Gómez. From the Government they said that both "follow at all times the preventive measures established by the health authorities." There was no talk of quarantine of the Prime Minister, nor of self-quarantine. In fact, Sánchez continues to star in physical meetings or this week he went to Congress.

The attitude of Sánchez, and of the rest of Spanish politicians, contrasts with the position of other world leaders. For example, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he was being quarantined after a few days ago his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, tested positive for coronavirus after making a trip to London. "As a precautionary measure and following medical advice, you will remain in quarantine for the planned 14-day period," the Prime Minister's Office announced.

Also with that of Felipe VI. The Kings have canceled their entire schedule, at least for now, to exercise a self-quarantine after they had to undergo tests for the coronavirus because Doña Letizia coincided with Irene Montero in one act. Although the tests were negative, they remain without institutional activity.
