- In anticipation of Sweden's official decision, parents and pupils decided on us. They have stayed at home for a few days, so closing or not closing made no difference, says Alicia Sjöberg, teacher of social studies at S: t Eskils high school in Eskilstuna.

Yesterday Alicia Sjöberg had three students in her lessons. Today, only one was present.

- It is positive that the decision was made before, we would both hold lessons digitally and be present in the classrooms.

Communication with students

Although there are digital tools used by schools, Alicia Sjöberg believes that it will be up to each teacher to find their own way of communicating with the students.

- We have a platform for students where I will post all material. Then I will call everyone individually for feedback, but right now I'm running on Skype, ”she says.

"It is important that the students are at home"

High school principal Karin Holmberg Lundin says that since last week, the management of the Child and Education Administration have been prepared that it could be distance learning for the students.

- From tomorrow, all teaching is conducted remotely. But it is important that the students are at home and not go to the gym or cafes. Teaching should run as usual, says Karin Holmgren Lundin.

How should you ensure that students are at home?
- Teachers should manage attendance digitally, she says.

Is there a risk that weak students will be affected?

- This is an extraordinary situation, but we have special teachers and special support through our digital channels and they should get their education. We will try to solve this to the best of our ability, ”says Karin Holmgren Lundin.
