It was last Sunday, the day after the passage to stage 3 of the coronavirus pandemic. The Tête d'Or park was taken by storm by dozens of families and groups of friends who came to take advantage of the spring sun, ignoring government recommendations and calls for social distancing.

Images which, in Lyon as everywhere in France, worried and shocked the public authorities and the medical personnel. With the implementation this Tuesday of the containment decided the day before by Emmanuel Macron, the city of Lyon therefore had little choice.

To avoid gatherings - now prohibited - in the city's green spaces, the municipality has announced the closure until further notice of all of its parks, public gardens and playgrounds. The measure concerns in particular the Tête d'Or park, the green lung of the Lyon conurbation with its 117 hectares of nature, Gerland park and even Blandan park.

Note that the famous zoo and the botanical garden of the Tête d'Or park had already been closed to the public on Sunday, as a precaution. A decision which of course remains valid for a currently indefinite period.
