What are the consequences for you in Ammarnäs?

- Samples taken here on a Thursday cannot be analyzed in Umeå because it is on Thursdays that the samples go to the hematologist and then they must be taken in Ammarnäs on a Monday or Tuesday, says Gun-Britt Hedström.

Annelie Lindström, Head of Operations at Sorsele Hospital, believes that it is all about resources. New nurses will be trained at the hospital in Sorsele.

- We must manage to staff the hospital as well.

The region will now open a so-called health center in Ammarnäs, where residents will be helped to take blood tests. It is hoped that the health room will be staffed by a nurse.

Annelie Lindström at Region Västerbotten says that she "made contacts" among the tourists in Ammarnäs.

- Among other things, a doctor who announces when she is visiting Ammarnäs so that emergency medical services can contact her.

Isn't it remarkable that a doctor who is on vacation should solve the care needs?

- We do what we can and what we can do, says Annelie Lindström.
