The end of historic bastions? After the first round of municipal elections, the Ile-de-France landscape was marked by a decline in the PCF in two of its eastern bastions. He is thus surpassed in Saint-Denis, where the socialist Mathieu Hanotin leads with 35% of the votes, and Aubervilliers, where the candidate Meriem Derkaoui comes third behind an UDI list and a citizen list.

In this emblematic department of the red belt, the PCF can console itself with Montreuil, where the outgoing mayor, Patrice Bessac, is elected in the first round with 51% of the votes. Same as La Courneuve and Stains, according to provisional results. In Bobigny, a city-prefecture, the communist candidate also finished first with 37% of the votes, ahead of the UDI (26%) who had won the city in 2014 but whose mandate was marred by business.

The PS ends him in the lead at Pantin, Bagnolet or Bondy, despite the presence of several lists on the left.
