No vote on Sunday in some 5,000 municipalities in France. Emmanuel Macron announced during a speech on Monday, the postponement of the second round of municipal elections, scheduled for next Sunday, due to the spread of the coronavirus. The President of the Republic said he had consulted the President of the Senate, the National Assembly and his predecessors, Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, before making his decision.

"The Prime Minister informed the party leaders represented in Parliament today," he continued. "This decision was unanimously received," said the head of state.

Earlier today, Matignon said that Prime Minister Edouard Philippe proposed a postponement of the second ballot on June 21, while many political leaders called not to vote again this Sunday.
