As scientists around the world find a drug to protect against the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), a Hindu party in the Indian capital, New Delhi, organized a party in which cow urine was drunk on the pretext of protecting the virus.

A Hindu group hosted a party to drink the urine of cows on Saturday 14 March in the Indian capital, New Delhi, because they believed it to protect against the emerging coronavirus, because many Hindus considered the cows sacred, and some believed that their urine had healing properties.

Experts have repeatedly emphasized that the urine of cows does not cure diseases such as cancer, and there is no evidence that it may protect against the Coronavirus.

The Hindu Union Party "For All India" hosted the ceremony at its headquarters in New Delhi, and was attended by 200 people. Organizers hope to host similar events across India.

"We have been drinking urine for 21 years, just as we have been bathing in their droppings. We have never felt the need to take an English medicine," said one of the attendees.

Chakrabani Maharaj, the party's leader, stood up to take pictures with a spoonful of cow urine near a cartoon of Corona virus.

Leaders of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Hindu Nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, have promoted the use of cow urine as a treatment for cancer. A leader in the northeastern state of Assam also told state lawmakers this month during a parliament session that the urine and dung of cows could be used to treat the Corona virus.
