At the Vatican, all Easter week celebrations will be held without worshipers in St. Peter's Square, due to coronavirus. "Because of the current international health emergency, all the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week will be held without the physical presence of the faithful," the Prefecture of the Pontifical House announced in a statement on Sunday.

Audiences visible in streaming

In the same press release, the Vatican specifies that "until April 12, the general audiences of the Holy Father and the recitations of the Angelus will only be visible by streaming on the official Vatican News website".

According to the latest report, Italy, the most affected country in Europe, recorded 368 new deaths linked to the coronavirus in twenty-four hours, a record. The death toll stands at 1,809 for 24,747 cases.
