March 16, 2020 The Council of Ministers has not yet started to launch the decree with the measures to combat the Coronavirus emergency scheduled for 10 am at Palazzo Chigi. The session has been postponed several times even yesterday and a long pre-advice of over 7 hours was needed to find a framework on the measures that range from the stop to the payments of mortgages and taxes to the allocation of extraordinary resources for Civil Protection and the national health system, from contributions for companies to incentives for internationalization.

Licensed by the CDM, the anti-coronavirus decree with the measures and funds, to be operational, must be discussed and approved by the Chamber and the Senate. As has not yet been clarified, given that the debate on the physical presence in Parliament is proposed again among parliamentarians. "We all worked together night and day to finalize a maneuver in a few days," said PA minister Fabiana Dadone. And he explained: "Proposals from the opposition have also been accepted by the government" and it was "important to include the opposition in the process".

Conte: "After an emergency we will have to reformulate trade and free market rules"
Premier Giuseppe Conte - in an interview with 'Il Corriere della Sera' underlined in particular how "the business world is called to a very tough challenge. Many have closed and those who are open must guarantee workers an adequate level of protection" . And he continues: "This decree will not be enough. The damages will be serious and widespread, it will be necessary to launch a real reconstruction plan. After the coronavirus nothing will be as before, we will have to sit down and reformulate the rules of trade and free market".

Misiani: "In Cdm stop tax compliance for 1-2 months"
"Among the economic measures that will be launched in the morning there will be the one regarding the stop to tax compliance: the suspension of the payment without limits of turnover for the sectors most affected, the suspension for taxpayers up to 2 million of turnover, for payments VAT, deemed to be the contribution of March, the non-application of withholding taxes for the fees received in March for professionals and businesses with turnover under 400 thousand euros ". Deputy Minister of Economy Antonio Misiani said this at Circo Massimo on Radio Capital, in illustrating the measures that will be launched today by the Council of Ministers.

"A suspension - explains the Deputy Minister of Economy - which will last from 1 to 2 months, March and April for the sectors most affected, for a month for the other taxpayers. We give everyone the opportunity to suspend the payment of VAT, but who can pay does it, for the good of the country. It is a civic duty, who is lucky enough to pay it, we invite you to do it. We make a huge intervention on the credit side, the leverage effect of the suspension is worth € 350 billion liquidity guaranteed to companies, then we should imagine an indemnity mechanism ". Then he added: "We reasoned about the reduction of the bills but it would have gone beyond our coverage space: with these measures we are using all 25 billion".

Finally, on the support from the European Union, Misiani gives "a very positive opinion to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and to the work of the commission. I believe that the President of the ECB Lagarde took a misstep, which was then correct. Whatever it takes must be even more valid today. "

Meloni: "Irresponsible Dl timing for suspending taxes"
"I understand all the difficulties but I think it is irresponsible to convene the Council of Ministers to launch the decree that serves - among other things - to suspend the payment of taxes, on the same day in which those taxes must be paid". The president of Fratelli d'Italia Giorgia Meloni writes it on Facebook.
