The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that the circulation in the British Guardian newspaper regarding the increase in the incidence of new coronavirus (COFED-19) in Egypt is incorrect, indicating that what was circulated is completely false to health.

The ministry's spokesperson, Dr. Khaled Mujahid, stated that the ministry immediately announces any cases whose results of its analyzes are positive for the emerging corona virus, in full transparency according to the international health regulations, and in coordination with the World Health Organization.

Mujahid denounced the newspaper’s reliance in its statement on the speculation of one of the researchers in infectious diseases in a Canadian university regarding increasing the number of infected people in Egypt to more than 19 thousand infected, stressing that the World Health Organization is the official body entrusted with following up the epidemiological situation of the new Corona virus in all countries of the world Also, the World Health Organization office in Egypt follows up with the Ministry all the accurate and updated data on a daily basis, and supervises and continuously monitors the preventive and preventive measures taken by the Ministry, whether for the injured or those in contact.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Health and Population operates according to the preventive and precautionary plan that it has put under the supervision of the World Health Organization, as the cases that have proven positive results of the virus, came within the Ministry's surveillance and investigation procedures that were praised by the World Health Organization.

Mujahid reiterated not to monitor any cases infected or suspected of being infected with the new Corona virus in all governorates of the Republic, except for those previously announced.

He added that the representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, Dr. John Gabor, praised in statements to him the way in which the authorities in Egypt dealt with the emerging corona virus.
