On Saturday it was clear that there will be bandyfinal matches in Uppsala next weekend - but without a crowd.

As a result, the municipality of Uppsala loses millions of money, both in ticket revenue and other things, such as activities and food and drink that would have been sold on the arena.

Following the government's decision earlier this week to ban larger crowds, negotiations between the municipality and the Swedish Bandy Association started on how the bandy final would be implemented. But the discussions dragged on over time.

- There have been a number of trips on the economy and tricky to agree. This is a financial blow to both the municipality - and thus the taxpayers - and the Swedish Bandy Association. It took time to figure out how we could limit the losses, ”says Erik Pelling.

More expensive to move to in the fall

An alternative that was included in the picture was to run the bandy finals this fall instead.

- But it had become more expensive, for many of the costs we have already incurred - some invoices are paid. In addition, many players had been replaced in that case, says Erik Pelling.

The municipality has bought the event the band final of the Swedish band association. But according to Erik Pelling, that compensation has now been lowered since the folk party will not be lost.

According to him, both parties are still satisfied with the solution that now became - to only broadcast the matches.

- Of course, many people miss out on a fantastic experience on the spot, but I think everyone understands that it is about safeguarding the elderly and the weak in society trying to prevent them from getting the corona center.
