Maison Troisgros, an institution of world gastronomy located in Ouches (Loire), will close its doors on Sunday and "at least until the beginning of April" because of the coronavirus epidemic, its chef Michel told AFP Troisgros.

"After meeting with the teams this morning, we made the decision to close our establishments as of tomorrow (Sunday), after the noon service, because this is something that seems to us to be inevitable in the face of the progression of the coronavirus "said Michel Troisgros, who runs the establishment.

In addition to the flagship "three stars" in Ouches, where the Maison Troisgros moved in early 2017, this decision also concerns the Le Central brewery and grocery store in Roanne (Loire), as well as the Auberge-gîte la Colline du Colombier, in Iguerande. (Saône-et-Loire).

"We precede what, in my opinion, will become inevitable from next week, because we are an exposed profession. We live in community, we share, we handle products, we host", detailed the owner of the restaurant three-star in the Michelin Guide since 1968.

"We have warned our customers who have reservations for the next two weeks that our three establishments will be closed at least until the beginning of April," said Mr. Troisgros, referring to an "unprecedented situation".

"It is a somewhat sad but responsible decision. Our customers tell us that they understand it and that we will meet again soon," added Michel Troisgros, who works with his wife Marie-Pierre, and his sons César. and Leo.

A significant part of their 75 employees, especially those employed in the kitchen, will be placed in partial activity.
