British writer David Hurst says that the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman and his advisers may be stupid to discover the mistake the prince made with his recent arrests, and previous mistakes that may make him lose the throne of the kingdom he is seeking.

The editor of the British Middle East Eye website describes the recent arrests as the largest gamble by Muhammad bin Salman in his short career as crown prince, adding that bin Salman deals with every disaster by moving to another before the first ruling, and quickly makes decisions of a fast machine gun without thinking about the consequences.

Hearst says that another major gamble of Muhammad bin Salman is to shatter the image of Saudi Arabia, which is classified as leader of the Sunni Islamic world and a reliable guardian of Islamic sanctities.

He added that this leadership was a powerful source of Saudi soft power, and one of the sources of legitimacy for the rule of the Al Saud.

The disaster of increasing oil production
Another disaster - according to Hirst's description - is the recent decision to increase oil production, which the British Financial Times said would create a gap of $ 140 billion in revenue this year for the six Gulf states if the price of crude remained at $ 30 a barrel, adding that the rich Gulf states ( Kuwait, the Emirates, and Qatar) can adapt, but Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman cannot, as the Saudi budget needs $ 83 a barrel to achieve a draw.

Hurst said that Saudi Arabia has remained stable throughout its history despite internal problems and disputes and its dealings with opponents of the regime in it "brutally." He pointed out that what was within this stability was that it governed the Council of Princes, the sons of its founder King Abdulaziz who shared power and wealth among them by ensuring the representation of each branch : Naif branch obtained by the Ministry of Interior, Sultan of the Ministry of Defense, Abdullah Al-Watani Al-Guard, Al-Faisal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Talal Al-Media, etc.

The overthrow of a fundamental principle
But bin Salman overthrew this accepted principle within the family and the system, and therefore - Hearst says - that the arrest that no one had ever imagined, namely the arrest of Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, brother of King Salman and the arrest of Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, may be one of the strongest reasons that will topple the pursuit of Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to take over the throne of the Kingdom.

Turning to the dependence of bin Salman on the protection of US President Donald Trump to him, Hurst said that if the November elections in America do not result in Trump continuing in office, he does not expect the Prince to receive protection from Trump's successor, because there is no one in the world other than Trump wants the uneasy crown prince to become the king of a country like Saudi Arabia.
