An epidemic is when many people in an area fall ill with the same disease for a short time. A pandemic, in turn, is an epidemic that has spread across several countries and continents. Since Wednesday, the WHO now classifies the corona eruption as a panademy.
One of the criteria is that the virus spreads to at least two different continents. Since the 20th century, this is the fifth infection to be classified as a pandemic.
