Fewer eat special diets in school according to the requirement for a certificate

Lina Sjöberg is the diet manager for the elementary school in Eskilstuna. She says that a few years ago, there was a large increase in the number of special diet meals.

- We got signals from the kitchens that probably not everyone needed this type of special diet, she says.

What you have for routines around special diets varies in the municipalities in Sörmland. In Gnesta, Oxelösund and Nyköping, just as in Eskilstuna, you require a certificate from the healthcare system. But in Flen and Katrineholm, for example, no certificate is required.

Lina Sjöberg welcomes the new guidelines from Diet and nutrition, despite having had rules in Eskilstuna for a few years.

- It is important that there is clarity on what is valid, she says.
