They are no longer councilors of the Socialist Party of Navarra ( PSN-PSOE ). Now they pass, definitively, to the category of "transfugas". Jorge Crespo and Magdalena Hernández , the two socialist mayor of Estella who have decided to support the motion of censure of EH Bildu to expel Navarra Suma from the Mayor's Office, were expelled this Tuesday in a fulminating manner by the PSOE.

The Federal Executive Commission of the party ruled "the automatic loss of affiliate status against the two fugitives." Ibai Crespo is the only member of the Municipal Socialist Group in the City Council of Estella.

Crespo and Hernández intend to ally with Geroa Bai - the brand of the PNV in Navarra - to facilitate Bildu to have a new mayor in Navarra after registering a motion of censure against the mayor, Gonzalo Fuentes , belonging to Navarra Suma - the UPN coalition, the PP and Citizens-.

The justification they have given is that they "follow the line of the party" of betting on "the dialogue between different parties and the agreement for a progressive government." EH Bildu abstained in the investiture of Pedro Sánchez and in Navarra divided his vote to facilitate that María Chivite ( PSN ) was elected president with barely half the seats that Navarra Sums.

The current mayor, Gonzalo Fuentes, elected 10 months ago, assures EL MUNDO that this case "is the nth political trap of PSN and Bildu." "This drift began in Huarte, then in the commonwealth of Pamplona and now in Estella," he laments.

"The complicit silence of the PSN"

We must remember that the mayor of the PSN was absent from the vote so that Bildu achieved, as the most voted list, the mayor of Huarte; and that both parties joined in the commonwealth of the Navarre capital.

The mayor of Estella criticizes "the complicit silence of the PSN", which did not execute the expulsion of Crespo in February, when he announced his plans, but now Ferraz has had to throw him out of the game. The Navarrese socialists announced an expulsion file, but it was provisional. "It is the PSN that has generated this breeding ground," adds the mayor.

The motion is scheduled for March 24, although UPN sources say that the intention of Javier Esparza , president of the formation and leader of Navarra Suma, is to invoke the Monitoring Commission of the Anti-Transfuguism Pact before that date. The function of the commission - which depends on the Ministry of Territorial Policy - is "to take measures aimed at isolating those qualified as transfugues." The PSOE, the PP, IU, ERC, PNV, the BNG, Canary Coalition and UPN, among others, are part of it.

There, UPN and the PP want to complain to the PNV that Geroa Bai withdraw the support for the motion and not use two transfers to favor the Abertzale left. Navarra Suma has seven councilors in Estella. Bildu has six, the PSN achieved three - now it will retain only one - and Geroa Bai has another, which is crucial to decant the absolute majority.

The PSN statement

In a statement, the Secretary of Organization of the PSN, Ramón Alzórriz , criticized the inconsistency of the two transfugas. "Both Crespo and Hernández maintain their presidency at the head of the departments of Youth and Equality, with the leadership of the mayor to whom they present a motion."

And, on the other hand, in December, "Crespo was studying filing a criminal complaint to denounce municipal mismanagement over the past four years against Koldo Leoz , a candidate he will now vote for."
