Strong wind gusts are expected and SMHI has issued a class 2 warning for storms in Skåne, Halland, Blekinge and the western part of Kronoberg county.

As a result, train traffic is suspended for several distances for almost a day, from Thursday morning at 9 am to Friday at 5 am.

• Helsingborg-Angelholm

• Ramlösa-Eslov

• Malmö-Ystad-Simrishamn

• Halmstad-Värnamo

Before train traffic can get started, all distances will be checked and any errors corrected.

"We are making this decision to ensure that no trains are left standing with passengers and that travelers can plan their journey in another way as early as possible," says Göran Holmberg at the Traffic Unit in Malmö, in a press release.

In connection with severe winds, the water level is expected to rise in both Kattegatt and Öresund. The wind is expected to be westerly.

- Classically, western Skåne is hit hardest and most often it will be a fairly narrow stretch where the wind bands end up, says Per Stenborg, meteorologist at SVT.

Continued high water levels

In Skåne, Kalmar and Blekinge counties, class 2 warnings remain for high water flows.

- It's been there since the February rain. There will be some rain today and also on Thursday, so there may be even higher flows, says Per Stenborg.
