Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger - Matrix Media / Starface

Arnold Schwarzenegger is suing Promobot, a Russian company that has developed a robot in his likeness. The actor is claiming $ 10 million in damages, reports Guizmodo relayed by Presse-Citron.

The famous robot was presented publicly at CES in Las Vegas last January. Russian designers were inspired by the face of the former California governor in his "Terminator" period, the first opus released in 1984.

Cool or creepy? Arnold @Schwarzenegger version of @ promobot's Android Robo-C can interact with you, mimic human facial expressions. Hey, Arnold did say he'd be back. #promobot #robot #robotics # CES2020 #ces pic.twitter.com/6Ong2mgWLC

Promobot risks paying dearly

The actor knew that this robot existed: in 2019, Promobot had officially asked him to pose next to his double robotics - in vain. After the CES, the Russian company received a letter stating that Arnold Schwarzenegger could have consented to give the robot its appearance ... for $ 30 million.

Promobot having used the face of a well-known actor without his agreement, it is logical that "the damages [are] increased exponentially", according to the lawyer of Schwarzy. The Russian company would sell its robot for $ 25,000, according to Input magazine. In the past, Promobot has already won more than 2.5 million dollars with a robot in the likeness of actress Priscilla Presley, assures the lawyer.

A Morpheus robot too

The functions of the “Schwarzy” robot are rudimentary. The machine is limited to domestic capacities. "'Arnold Schwarzenegger' will meet your guests, turn on the light and turn on the kettle," reads the Promobot website.

Simple head capable of moving the lips and pronouncing sentences, the robot is equipped with a voice assistant and a tablet. On the Promobot site, another great figure in science fiction has also been chosen to play a robot: Laurence Fishburne, alias Morpheus in "Matrix". A trial in prospect?
