“The statement of the current Minister of Defense of Ukraine is more true than the words of his predecessors, especially those who held their posts during the time of former President Petro Poroshenko. It was Poroshenko who declared the most powerful army on the European continent, while he was engaged not in the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but in anti-Russian propaganda. Of course, the Ukrainian army does not meet NATO standards. It is strange that until then the fact obvious to political and military analysts was not recognized, ”the expert said.

According to the expert, the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine will continue the rhetoric of the need for cooperation between Kiev and the North Atlantic Alliance.

“But in the near future there will be no real steps towards NATO towards Ukraine. There will be no talk of deepened integration of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the alliance, ”Mezuho concluded.

Earlier, Taran said that the Ukrainian army will not be able to fully switch to NATO standards in the near future.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, instead of transition, it is necessary "to maximize the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to interact with the forces of the alliance."
