In China, there is a long-standing tradition of spitting, which is often perceived as unhygienic by Westerners. The Chinese themselves believe that the mockery cleanses the system and that it is good for health. But now the Chinese state is trying to reduce the spread of corona through various information campaigns aimed at reducing the spitting.
"People are teaching that it is a way to spread the virus, but I can still hear a lot of unease," says Asia correspondent Ulrika Bergsten in SVT's foreign magazine the Foreign Office.
The Foreign Office is published every Wednesday evening on SVT Play. It is also broadcast in SVT2 on Wednesday 22.15. See the program here.
