With the three overdose deaths in Rieti, the list of inmates who lost their lives during the riots that broke out after the restrictions to avoid coronavirus contagion is growing. As already happened in Modena, even in the Lazio town the inmates have abused the drugs of the infirmary after having devastated the premises. Also in this prison, there are also five inpatients, one of whom is under intensive care. As for Modena, another prisoner has died in these hours, presumably also following an overdose on drugs. He had been hospitalized in serious conditions and is the eighth death since last Sunday's revolt. In the institute the unrest has ended and the last prisoners are moving.

From north to south Italy in prisons is crossed by riots motivated by the elimination of talks with relatives, but which have also become an opportunity to ask for solutions to ancestral problems, such as that of overcrowding.

The situation in Foggia is very critical where it was discovered that among the 77 escaped yesterday, about twenty of whom returned, there are also members of the Gargano mafia. During the night 11 of the 34 fleeing were captured, one of the 23 still wanted was established this morning. There are therefore 22 fugitives. Investigators are capturing videos of the cameras inside and outside the prison, but also of the many citizens who have posted images of the protest and escape on the 'social'. Investigators were also examined by the video of a prisoner, who was therefore in possession of a telephone, which took up the first part of the protest inside the prison premises. Strong police and military controls of the Gdf also in the neighboring regions, in particular in Molise.

In Bologna , mattresses were set on fire at night and pieces of metal and concrete were thrown at the prison police. Inmates continue to occupy certain sections.

After yesterday's protests, the situation calmed down in Udine and Syracuse , where about forty guests from the Cavadonna prison refused to return to the cells.

Even in San Vittore , Milan, calm seems to have returned after the meetings between the representatives of the 'rebels' and the magistrates, including the prosecutor Alberto Nobili who has however started an investigation for devastation, looting and resistance, currently dependent on him unknowns waiting to identify who yesterday destroyed parts of the prison, while some were demonstrating on the roof displaying the banners with the words "Indult" and "Liberty".

"A dialogue has opened with the detainees and they have decided to block any form of protest without this having occurred following our promises" said, leaving the prison of San Vittore, Alberto Nobili, Milan counter-terrorism manager, and Giovanna Di Rosa, president of the Supervisory Court. The detainees "have reasoned with us about the absolute uselessness of this type of protests and have agreed to be able to study ways to improve prison life. The first of which is overcrowding. When you have 500 prisoners too many, riots break out".

In Melfi the four agents and five units of health personnel detained by the detainees were released during the night.

Protests continue in Caltanissetta, Enna, Larino, Pescara and Avellino, with groups of prisoners refusing to return to the cells. New episodes of unrest are reported today in Rieti, Palermo Pagliarelli, Genoa and Campobasso.

Held on the roof in Trapani, columns of smoke
Protests at the Trapani prison where prisoners climbed onto the roof of the penitentiary structure. From the outside of the "Pietro Cerulli" district house, a few columns of smoke and a group of inmates sitting on the terrace are visible in the wing overlooking the San Giuliano district of Erice. The penitentiary is monitored by a helicopter and officers from the penitentiary police, but also from the police, carabinieri and financial police, present in riot gear, intervened on the site. As early as yesterday, some inmates' families had staged a protest. Even now, in front of the facility, a group of family members are witnessing the protests.
