The municipal council Cecilia Burenby (S) shows us around the preschool building in the new district of Sörby in the southern part of Mjölby and tells us that now at least one new preschool is being built every year and that the same model is used to make the construction more efficient.

- It is very funny that so many people move here, we have for quite a long time marketed ourselves as a municipality with scenic environments and proximity to everything.

Mjölby attracts commuters

We contacted the municipalities in Östergötland and the region of Gotland to find out how many children they expect to receive in the coming years and Mjölby was the municipality that stood out the most. There, between 150 and 200 new children are expected every year for the next few years. This means an increase in the number of children in the municipality by 12 percent over five years. The municipal council explains that with many Linköpings residents who want to get a villa choose Mjölby:

- Here you can get a little more for the money, maybe a double garage or a pool.

The preschool in Sörby will be ready this autumn and then the next preschool building will start, in Mantorp.
