Today, child protection is available from the school nurses, but a citizen's proposal submitted by Ewelina Axell from Huskvarna has thus started a discussion about increased access for free menswear at the municipality's schools.

- I think there really should be on every toilet in the community and in the schools. It is probably every woman who knows what it is like to be in the toilet and realize that you should have a menswear in the bag, says Anna Carlsson (S).

How are conversations about this right now?

- We have just started and that is a very important question. It is actually quite reasonable, since half the population uses protective clothing.

But will something concrete come out of the discussions?

- It may be so that you test at some school how this could work. And you can look at workplaces where you have menswear available, how they have done.

Will continue to raise the issue

According to a calculation made by the municipality on the basis of the citizen proposal, free ribbons or tampons for girls would cost about three million each in primary and secondary school. But really expensive, Anna Carlsson doesn't think it needs to be.

- The sum is calculated on what it costs for a woman per month, but if you have to have menswear available on the toilets that are used just when needed, it does not have to be the costs at all.

So the door is not closed on this issue?

- Absolutely not. It is something that I will continue to lift.
