The president of the Independent National Electoral Commission asked, Thursday, the dismissal of the vice-president of this institution to the High Constitutional Court. But far from easing tensions, this decision gives fresh grain to the opposition which persisted this weekend in its request to cancel all the elections held since 2018.

The request for dismissal of the vice-president of the Ceni for " serious misconduct and violation of oath " filed by the president of this institution Hery Rakotomanana caused astonishment. What serious fault did Thierry Rakotonarivo commit? Is it a violation of the oath to report that just over a million voters have the same identity card numbers ? Neither of them responded to our calls this Sunday.

Hery Rakotomanana had however defended her second Wednesday indicating that the identical numbers of CIN do not call into question the elections and that this anomaly has been known for several years. This request for dismissal is far from calming the spirits. At a press conference, the parties of the two unsuccessful presidential candidates, the HVM of outgoing president Hery Rajaonarimampianina and the TIM of former head of state Marc Ravalomanana denounced irregular elections side by side.

The latter appealed to international donors and the current regime: “ You, the international community were misled while you allocated a large part of the funds necessary to guarantee the credibility and the sincerity of these elections. You leaders have the responsibility of placing your power in an irrefutable legitimacy. You will bring a new crisis to the country if you persist in this current disorder. "

The international community has spent $ 12 million to support the Madagascan presidential, legislative and municipal elections. It has so far not responded to opposition statements.
