Costa Rica recorded its first case of coronavirus this Friday. She is an American tourist who arrived in the country on March 1, according to the government.

The 49-year-old patient was placed "in strict isolation" in a hotel in San José with her husband. The couple have been in contact with people with coronavirus in New York, according to the Minister of Health. "The man did not show any symptoms, but the woman did," he said.

No deaths in South America
