Major traffic accident near Syria's capital

According to the Syrian News Agency, the accident occurred on the highway from Damascus to the central Syrian city of Homs. A tanker was driving with multiple cars, including two buses, when it reached the Gisr Baghdad area in the northeastern suburb of Damascus. The collision caused nearly a hundred deaths and injuries.

Immediately after the incident, police and ambulances rushed to the scene to rescue the injured, and the injured have been taken to a number of hospitals in Damascus.

Syrian Interior Minister Rahmon told the media during the inspection of the rescue work that the accident was caused by an out of control of the tanker after a brake failure and collided with two buses and 15 other cars.
