On Saturday, 12 new cases of covid-19, known as the corona virus, were confirmed in the Gothenburg area. These are people who have recently visited northern Italy and Iran, or been in contact with people who have been there and thus discovered through infection tracking, the region writes in a press release.
Infection tracking among these people's close contacts has been initiated.
- All cases in Västra Götaland have been infected abroad or been in contact with persons infected abroad. That we discover more cases is expected, as many people who have been in affected areas have come home from travel, says Eva Lindhusen Lindhé, assistant infection protection physician in Västra Götaland, in the press release.
In total, 26 people have now been found in Västra Götaland who tested positive for the virus.
