It was in an interview with Sweden's radio on Tuesday that Carita From, project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration for Vännäs traffic area, said that it was decided that road 92 should be salted next year. These are information that the Swedish Transport Administration now rejects.

- At present, there is no decision to salt road 92, says Peter Jonsson, a press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, a new contract will be procured for the roads in Vännäs traffic area and which will start to apply from 2021. Today, parts of road 92 are classified as a class four. Which means that slippage must be done with sand.

New procurement new opportunities

Roads can be re-classified in new procurements. Should it then be decided that the Class 4 sections on Route 92 should be re-classified into a Class 3, salting could be an alternative. But there is nothing that the Swedish Transport Administration knows anything about at the moment.

- As long as salting is an alternative to maintenance of roads, it can be an alternative during a procurement. So I don't know if that will happen in the future. But there is currently no decision to salt road 92, says Peter Jonsson.
