China News Service, Taipei, March 7th. The Chinese Kuomintang held a by-election for the party chairman on the 7th. Jiang Qichen was elected with 84,860 votes, with a 68.8% vote rate.

According to Taiwan media reports such as the Central News Agency and the United Daily News, voting took place from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on the same day, and the balloting was completed in the evening. Billing data showed that the total number of party members qualified for election was 345,971, with a total of 124,019 votes, with a turnout rate of 35.9%. Candidates Jiang Qichen and Hao Longbin won 68.8% and 31.2% respectively.

That night, Jiang Qichen arrived at the party headquarters and gave his speech. He expressed his gratitude to the party members who voted for "casting a vote that has been passed down from generation to generation and bravely changed". In the future, we will accelerate the Kuomintang reform and restore the people's trust in the Kuomintang.

The Kuomintang lost in the "two-in-one" election on January 11 this year. The then party chairman Wu Dunyi led the resignation of the vice chairman, the secretary general, and the top cadres of the first-level party affairs. The by-election of the party chairman began immediately.

Jiang Qichen was born in Taichung in 1972. He holds a bachelor's degree in diplomacy from the Taiwan University of Political Science, a master's degree in international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in international relations from the University of South Carolina. Elected in October of the KMT Central Standing Committee.
