About 70 people were still in China on Saturday under the rubble of a collapsed hotel in eastern Fujian province, an official source reported.
The hotel, which has 80 rooms, was recently converted into a quarantine facility for people who have come into contact with patients infected with coronavirus, according to the newspaper Le Quotidien du Peuple.
23 people evacuated
The Xinjia Hotel, located in Quanzhou City, collapsed around 7:30 p.m. (11:30 a.m. GMT) and about 23 people were evacuated around 9 p.m., according to a statement from the local government. According to the Xinhua news agency, rescue teams were still on the scene.
